The shoulder can sometimes seem so complicated.  So many possibilities for pain.  In this class, students will be taught a balanced and sensible approach to identify structural and functional dysfunctions commonly found in a painful shoulder.  Additionally, students will be taught strategic treatments aimed at the actual cause and location of the dysfunctions causing shoulder pain.  This class is beneficial for both Physical and Massage Therapists and is approved to offer CEUs for both.  The interventions learned in this class can immediately be applied to your patients and will provide improved quality and effectiveness of care.

Proper mobility of the thoracic cage is important for general mobility and optimizing athletic performance. This class will analyze mobility of this region, teach assessment skills to localize origins of restrictions and introduce proper treatment modalities based on your findings.

Prerequisites:  Review of the thoracic spine, ribs and associated soft tissue attachments is recommended.

In this class, the student will learn about more specific lesions found in the neurocranium. Specific interventions for joint lesions of each major structure will be demonstrated and practiced.  Symptoms and etiology for each lesion will be discussed, so that the most effective treatment option will be selected, providing the best therapeutic impact.

In this class, the student will learn the anatomy and kinesiology of the bones of the neurocranium and facial skeleton.  The major types of dysfunctions found in these areas will be identified through observation and palpation.  Treatment techniques will also be introduced.  We will further discuss how the different dysfunctions can be correlated with their causes and symptomology, so that effective treatment options can be identified.   

Prerequisites:   Introduction to Manual Therapies, Manual Therapy for the Cervical Spine, Thoracic Spine and Ribs, Manual Therapy for the Lumbar spine and Pelvis, Differential Diagnosis of the Musculoskeletal System.
